Home > About The Old Post Centre
The Old Post Centre is a charity and has been open since September 2002, it was originally the New Inn Public House but has now been transformed into an amazing centre that benefits the whole community.
The centre was set up by local people and provides a warm welcome and a sense of belonging to the community. The centre is open seven days a week and offers a range of different services which include a café that sells delicious hot and cold foodat very reasonable prices. It also offers bingo, access to Citizen's Advice Bureau, Money Spider credit union, cooking classes, a pre-school and after school nursery called Little Angels, a parents and toddlers group called Little Stars, language lessons,Puppy School and much, much more. The IT centre is a Government 'On-Line' centre where anyone can learn to use computers FREE and there are sessions run in there to help unemployed people develop CV's and to build up their confidence and help them back into work again.
The centre is an excellent place to visit and is open to everyone of all abilities. It has disabled access, a large car park and a function room available to hire. This centre is unique and we are very proud to have it in our local area.
The Old Post Centre has been recognised by many others and has achieved different awards for their outstanding contribution to the community which include the Burton Mail Business award, East Midlands Empowerment Award and it was a Regional Finalist in the Coalfields Regeneration Trust award.
A very big thanks to our sponsors who, over the years, have put in hundreds of thousands of pounds, without you the centre would not be where it is today.
So thank you to:
With their help it has been possible to fund the refurbishment and extension of the building, pay for staff wages at the beginning, install CCTV, refurbish the IT Suite and pay for many projects and courses for the community.
The Old Post Centre has many plans for the future and is continuing with its growing success to benefit the whole of South Derbyshire.
